I am a third grade teacher in the state of Washington who has a passion for public education. I am currently entering my second year teaching. I have been involved with education since 2006.

In 2012 I became familiar with Diane Ravitch’s work The Death and Life of the Great American School System and her blog. I knew I had to join the fight to save public education from corporate reform, and you can too! Visit www.dianeravitch.net

I admire the work of The 2 Sisters, Donalyn Miller, Nancie Atwell, Pam Allyn, Kylene Beers and Bob Probst, Stephen Krashen, Richard Alington, and Peter Johnston. I believe in free choice reading during school [and out of school]. I consider myself a Wild Reader, I love children’s and teen novels/books. I hope to spread my love of literacy to my students.

I am a member of ILA, ALA, ALSC, AASL, NPE, BATs, NEA, AFT.

I’m an avid reader of The Reading Teacher journal.

I am public education, and I hope you will join me in my journey!
